When God had made the earth and sky, The flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals, The fish, the birds and bees.
And when at last He'd finished, Not one was quite the same,
God said, "I'll walk this earth of mine, And give each one a name."
And so He traveled far and wide, And everywhere He went,
A little creature followed Him, Until its strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth, And in the sky and sea,
The little creature said, "Dear Lord, There's not one left for me."
Kindly the Father said to him, "I've left you to the end,
I've turned my own name back to front, And call you DOG, my friend."

Obedience
SATURDAY
Starting at 08:30
Obedience training is provided on Saturday mornings for dogs who have reached the age of 4 months and have had all vaccinations completed. Older dogs are never too old to participate in socialization and training skills.
Positive and reward based training methods are used at all times with both dogs and owners participating in enjoyable experiences that make the training fun. Flexible training options are available to suit different situations. While some people just want a well socialised dog that is a pleasure to live with, others would like to progress to competing in trials. Progression through four levels of obedience training is provided at the end of which time your dog will happily walk on a loose lead and always return to you when called. The primary reward in training is a pat and a “good dog” with treats, or a favourite toy as a follow up.
Our instructors are volunteers who give their time and experience freely to assist participants to reach their goals and to build a close relationship with their dog. Training courses for new instructors are provided by the Club on a regular basis and instructors’ meetings are held to discuss various aspects of the training program. New instructors are supervised by the Chief Instructor and other experienced instructors.
Training Equipment Collars, leads, treat bags and other training aids may be purchased at a reasonable price from the Club. Advice on suitable equipment can be given on the first day of attendance. We recommend that you ask the advice of an instructor on your first day if you are not sure of the best option for your dog. Cotton webbing or leather leads are best for most dogs. Nylon leads burn your hands and are only suitable for very small dogs who do not pull.
